So, here it goes - BEEP! - BEEP! - BEEP! - Your alarm is reminding you that it is back to your scheduled Monday-to-Friday responsibilities. Day in, day out, same tasks - different stressors & unexpected adventures! If you have ever gotten onto an airplane, you surely know that one of the first things you hear is: "Ladies and gentlemen, If the mask drops down - please put it on yourself before you think about anyone else" (It is a measure of self help). Whether you're an over paid exec, or under-appreciated parent - it is CRUCIAL to take care of yourself in order to keep momentum.

8 Habits You Can Practice for Happiness

START WITH A 15 MINUTE POSITIVITY SESSION - I know what you’re thinking - Who has time for a 15 minute self sit down? Well, let’s be honest, most of us don’t have that luxury. But, you don’t necessarily have to be sitting down and giving yourself a pep talk. Think and say positive mantras for at least 15 minutes a day. Preferably at the beginning of the day, or even in between stressful times… maybe even on your commute, in your shower, or while you sit on the toilet instead of scrolling facebook!

LIMIT YOUR CAFFEINE INTAKE - While it is always great to feel a boost of energy, caffeine is NEVER a good go-to & there are plenty of other supplements available that will do the job! If you are a chronic migraine victim you know this is a NO GO for energy! Caffeine can cause anxiety, blood pressure issues, as well as cause what is known as a caffeine crash - where you need more and more to sustain your stamina before a complete burn out. A great idea is to consume energy boosting alternatives: Apples, Ginseng, Herbal Teas, Water, and Aromatherapy to name a few.

FIND A COOPERATIVE COMMUTE - Who wants to take a stress filled drive every day that equal hours per week? Or even take a bus? Weigh your options! Is it easier to hop in an Uber? or get a car pool from work? Plan out a budget on makes more financial sense as well. No use in working all those hours only to pay hefty insurance rates and car payments! Try to find a stress free solution!

DRINK PLENTY of WATER - Water helps your body stay alert, gives you energy, flushes toxins, boosts your immune system, as well as maintains weight. If those benefits don’t coerce you, I don’t know what will. The only downside to water may be the trips to the washroom. Let’s just hope your work space is in close proximity to the loo!

AVOID WORKING 7 DAYS A WEEK - Let yourself get some downtime to ease your mind from all your heavy work loads, and responsibilities. Spending social time with friends, family, or even alone can give you a huge boost and an automatic reset! Remind yourself why you work so hard, and that it is all worth it. problem and a statement of the purpose which I wish the campaign to achieve. EAT HEALTHY - The saying “you are what you eat” comes into play here; if you eat junk, you WILL feel junky! Replace all those convenient items with healthy snacks such as vegetables with dip, or fruit!

GET ENOUGH SLEEP - Since we were babies, our mothers always seemed to know when we needed a nap. This still applies to us as adults. We can become cranky, and brain fogged when we do not get enough rest. Sleep, & a balanced diet play key roles in our day-to-day lives. Sleep helps boost your immune system as well as fight off any oncoming illnesses. The last thing we need is to fall ill - It also restores your memory & places you in a better mood. Put your devices away, turn off the T.V. and get some well needed shut eye!

AVOID NEGATIVITY - This one may seem a bit tough, Becky with the Bad vibes may just have her desk a smidge too close to yours, and she may even be the epitome of worker/parent of the year, which is why she tends to get under your skin. Learn to remove yourself from negative though - take yourself back to those mantas. And if someone is negative, distance yourself gracefully. When forced to deal with them in the home, or workplace simply smile & hold it together. Remind yourself that only positivity creates positivity!

Learning to channel your zen, and practise healthier eating & sleeping habits can create a whole new dimension of happiness while undergoing the everyday pressures of a demanding week.
